Oliver Heritage Issue #112 DEC/JAN 2023
- FEATURING: Cockshutt Airport 770. The Oliver 770 was first produced in 1958. It was a very successful model, which lead to a production span of ten years. The early models used a bar grill like the 880 as well as clamshell fenders. These tractors were only sold as Oliver. But, in 1962, White Motors brought Cockshutt into the family and now Oliver and Cockshutt were sister companies. Feature tractor owner: Folie Farms - Somerset, WI.
- The New Line: Fleetline Series. In January 1948, the Charles City Plant Chief Engineer gave a talk to the branch managers at the Oliver Sales Conference, introducing the new tractor line; it would be known as the Fleetline series.
- Rebirth of Hart-Parr No. 3: January 2023 marks the 20th Anniversary of the release of Hart-Parr’s oldest tractor from the Smithsonian Institution. With a coordinated effort among multiple groups of people, this project brought to life a machine that hadn’t taken a breath in nearly 50 years.
- Ethan Van Delden: 2022 Chevron TRC Grand Champion. Ethan has a heart for country life and a passion for agriculture, which is why he chose to enroll at Agriculture Science and Technology Academy in Helotes, Texas. It was March of 2021 when his tractor restoration career began.
- Cletrac Facts: This story is about William Hazlett Upson’s early crawler tractor experience. As many of you know, he created the fictitious character Alexander Botts. While many of the readers of the Earthworm Tractor stories thought he would never have seen any other tractor except Caterpillar, there is more to this.
- Another Oliver User: Greg and Adam Duske. The Duske name is synonymous with Oliver tractors. Greg and Adam own an Oliver 880, 1650, 1850, 1755, and a White 4-150 articulated four-wheel-drive, all of which are diesel-powered.
- Collector's Corner: Rick Garnhart's Vast Oliver Collection.
- "Keeping relics alive" are the words by which Dave Weber of Ramsey, MN, lives. If you are into watching Oliver farm videos on the Internet, more than likely you’ve heard his voice narrating his family’s use of Oliver and White tractors throughout all seasons of the year.
