Heritage Iron Issue #81 - May/June 2022
- FEATURING: Allis-Chalmers 7580: Third Time's a Charm. After two earlier versions of a 4WD tractor, AC finally got it right with their own homegrown power. Feature tractor owner: Brian Lee - Montevideo, MN.
- Steiger Bearcat: Entering the '70s with a roar. In 1970, the Bearcat hit the market. While there were still many small family farms, there were also farms a lot bigger to get that average. The newly incorporated Steiger wanted that large farmer.
- Oliver and Minneapolis-Moline: Same Models - Different Metal. Dealers were running ads with the headlines: "Minneapolis-Moline MERGES with White Motor!" Both companies had a strong tractor line, but what appears to be two different models to many are sometimes the same tractor.
- From the History Vault: What was happening 40, 50, and 60 years ago in the tractor industry? Read these tidbits of history straight from Sherry Schaefer's personal literature collection.
- Paquette's Contribution to Agricultural History. His love for the IH brand was second only to his love of family.
- M&W Gear vs. Manufacturer: The Power Struggle. During the early-1970s, a booklet was sent out to John Deere dealers squashing all modifications. Although M&W was never "named" in this publication it is clear who the target was by the name of the book, "Added Power - Is It Worth It?" It was a direct aim at M&W and the products they were pushing for "Power Farming."
- Mud Hog: On Top for Nearly 50 Years.
- Mini Muscle: Dan Robinette's Collection of Farm Toys.
