Heritage Iron Issue #80 - Mar/Apr 2022
- FEATURING: Massey-Ferguson 2745, Middle Child of the 2000 Series. Hitting the ground with 140 horsepower in 1978, the 2745 was described as "an exciting new blend of power and performance." Feature tractor owner: Robert Miles - Collison, IL.
- Oliver 1800/1900: Learning the ABCs. At the time of introduction, these tractors would be known as the 100 Series, and simply the 1800 and 1900. During the next few years, however, many changes would be made that would cause them to be tagged as A, B, or C models.
- The Ever-Evolving UTV: Fun with the Farmhand. Keeping with the "muscle relaxer" themed articles on machines that brought fun and relaxation, as well as put in a day's work around the farm, this next installation will focus mainly on the machine that made the biggest leap of evolution into the modern UTV. It made us tougher by surviving its use during the '70s and '80s... the Honda 3-wheeler.
- Hesston's Articulated Tractor: A Forgotten 4WD. Many equipment history buffs do not know Hesston narrowly missed breaking into the market for articulated 4WD tractors that was traditionally occupied by heavyweights such as Steiger, Big Bud, and Versatile.
- From Orange to Green, Part 2. The return of orange... a new color and a name change were just beginning as fans of orange tractors witnessed the birth of a new company, Deutz-Allis.
- Mini Muscle: Jim Ford's Small Scale Farm Toys.
- From the History Vault: What was happening 40, 50, and 60 years ago in the tractor industry? Read these tidbits of history straight from Sherry Schaefer's personal literature collection.
