Heritage Iron Issue #34 July/August 2014

  • FEATURING: Massey-Ferguson 2805. The Heritage Era was a race that included many colors. It was a race for horsepower, a race for a modern transmission, and a race for innovations. Sometimes that race caused a model to be sent out before it was ready, resulting in costly recalls and fear from the potential buyer. For Massey, it was the 2800 that was recalled, and after the weak points were fixed, it would become the 2805. Feature tractor owner: Jim Schlappi - Browntown, WI.
  • Clone Tractor: Minneapolis-Moline G1355. The White Motor Corporation entered the decade of the 1970s focused on meeting the needs of the modern farm with big iron. The G1355 evolved from White's quest to build the ultimate Muscle Tractor.
  • Case 2390/2590 Tractors. From 1979 to 1983, J.I. Case introduced the 90 series featuring the Model 2390 at 160-PTO horsepower, and the Model 2590 at 180 horsepower, which were designed to give farmers something new called "Rapid Farming."
  • Machinery Milestones: The tractor scene from 30, 40, and 50 years ago.
  • International Harvester 4100 4WD. The 4100 4WD was the first in a long line of rigid frame IH 4WD tractors that spanned over 20 years of production. Tractor owner: Richard Walker - Charlottesville, IN.
  • Allis-Chalmers Model 8095: What could have been for both the tractor and the company. While nobody has the benefit of hindsight, one can't help but wonder how a single tractor may have changed history. Tractor owned by: Hunley Family - Austin, IN.
  • Mini Muscle: Randy Breyley's Green Line, Tractor Models Sleek as Deere.
